Unified Health and Performance

Our Story

We originally started Unified Health and Performance as a high-level strength and conditioning facility that would also give our Special Olympics athletes an opportunity to become the strongest version of themselves. We wanted to create an environment that was mutually beneficial for athletes with and without disabilities. What has transpired since July of 2016 has been nothing short of extraordinary. We’ve been able to work with nearly 500 athletes and have witnessed impressive physical feats, regardless of disability. While continuing to deliver an exceptional service in the Central MA area, we are now also focusing on spreading our mission of inclusion across the country through the efforts of AdaptX.

OWNED AND OPERATED BY BRENDAN AYLWARD

A 2015 graduate of Lesley University, Brendan began his career in strength and conditioning during his time in college, working with the Nashoba basketball and hockey programs as well as providing at-home fitness services for a handful of individuals with various disabilities. Brendan has attended and completed dozens of continuing education courses throughout the last few years and is committed to an approach of being a lifelong learner. Everything that he attributes to his success in coaching and business was fostered outside of the classroom; specifically through his involvement in two community service organizations.

Brendan was the director of the Central MA Special Olympics program for 8 years and is still heavily involved in Best Buddies; two programs that he began participating in during his sophomore year of high school. In 2014, he became the youngest ever to coach for Team Massachusetts at the Special Olympics USA Games and has been a resource for Special Olympics on improving fitness in their athletes over the last several years.

Over the last seven years, racing for Team Hoyt New England has been a dream come true. Brendan and Jacob have participated in more than 75 races together, ranging from 5Ks to marathons. Their personal bests include an 17:22 5K and a 1:22:34 Half Marathon. Rick and Dick Hoyt have been a major influence on Brendan’s career path.
