August in Review

As Summer scheduling winds down and kids return to school, we look forward to new offerings in the Fall and continued growth for the business. The school year provides a lot more time to work “on” the business instead of an overwhelming number of coaching hours. Our staff continues to grow so we can offer more opportunities for you to work towards your health and fitness goals.

August 15th – Pease Brothers Visit and interview

Brent and Kyle Pease are the second wheelchair duo ever to finish the Kona Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. The 140.6 mile race is considered one of the hardest endurance events due many factors, specifically the extreme temperatures. Kyle and Brent recently wrote a book called Beyond the Finish. In the week leading up to Falmouth, which they ran together, they had a couple of book signings and graciously fit us into their busy schedule. We recorded an interview with the brothers and they stayed for one of our adaptive classes. We will be sharing this content in the Fall as part of a bigger project that has been in the works for the last couple of years.

August 18th – Falmouth Road Race

We had six gym members run the Falmouth Road Race this year for various charities; surviving the heat to put together great runs. Falmouth is one of the most well-known races in this area and the crowds that line the streets make for an unforgettable experience.

August 29th – Meeting with Bobby Perednia

On Thursday, we went out to Raynham to meet with Bobby Perednia, a physical therapist at Joint Efforts Physical Therapy in Taunton. Bobby is a biomechanic specialist with a superior understanding of how movement at various joints effects functioning of others. Jacob and I will be running the Eversource Marathon in 6 weeks. Bobby attributed some knee tightness to a foot injury that I had over the Winter; which has greatly reduced the range of motion in my mid-foot and effecting how my foot transfers force up the kinetic chain.
